JASA Partnership

JASA & Synergy Physical Therapy & Sports Medicine

A partnership created to promote the awareness and prevention of common sports injuries in adolescent athletes.

We are very excited to announce the partnership between JASA and Synergy Physical Therapy and Sports Medicine. Our goal is to reduce some of the most common soccer injuries that we see on a daily basis in our clinic.  With the assistance of the JASA Leadership, Coaches, Players and Parents, we plan to implement some evidence based or best practice programs that have been proven to substantially reduce the number of lower extremity injuries.  Along with prevention, these programs will also have a strengthening and performance enhancement effect on the players.

In addition to the implementation of a new warm up program, we hope to provide the coaches and players with some other valuable information and services.  Synergy is a collaborating organization with STOP Sports Injuries, this comprehensive public outreach program focuses on the importance of sports safety-specifically relating to overuse and trauma injuries.  Our licensed professionals also belong to groups like the American Physical Therapy Association Sports Section, National Athletic Training Association, and various other sports related organizations.  We hope to bring information from these various sources to teams and parents on a regular basis.

Finally, we will offer complementary or discounted services to JASA members.  Services ranging from complementary sports injury screenings to summer camps will be available.  We feel that our community has been greatly undeserved when it comes to sports medicine and injury prevention awareness.  We applaud the efforts of the JASA Leadership to taking these positive steps to create a top notch organization, and we look forward to providing these services to the JASA membership.

fewer injured players.

The program should be performed, as a standard warm-up, at the start
of each training session at least twice a week, and it takes around 20 minutes to complete.

All Injury Screenings Include:

  • One on one time with a licensed Physical Therapist or Certified Athletic Trainer
  • Prompt Service
  • An explanation of findings, instructions for self-care and recommended next steps for your recovery
  • If we determine that you could benefit from physical therapy, we will send a report of the findings to your physician for review.
  • Physician referral and physician scheduling assistance, if needed.

"Don't just trust anyone to make a sports medicine decision.  Trust the professionals who have worked with athletes from High School to the Pros.  If you need to be seen by a Physician, we will share our preferred provider list of Sports Medicine Specialists, we can also help you get an expedited appointment.  Our goal is to get you back in the game quickly and safely."

PEIRR Training

Performance Enhancement, Injury Risk Reduction, Training

There are approximately 150,000 ACL injuries each year in the United States.  There has been minimal change in these injury rates over the past 10 years.  Female athletes participating in soccer and basketball are 2 to 8 times more likely to suffer an ACL injury compared to their male counterparts. It is also estimated that 1 in 4 of these individuals will go on to a second knee injury on their “bad” or “good” knee.

For patients not covered by health insurance, the cost of ACL reconstruction, including the surgeon's fee, facility fee, anesthesia and graft, if needed, ranges from just under $20,000 to $50,000.  Those covered by insurance can expect to pay their full deductible and out-of-pocket max, $ 1,000 to $12,000.

The PEIRR Training program is designed to accomplish the following goals:

Increase Strength & Power
Enhance Athleticism

Improve Deceleration
Improve Agility & Balance

Teach Proper Landing Mechanics
Identify Poor Movement Patterns
Eliminate Muscle Imbalances
Reduce the Risk of Injury

Although PEIRR Training can be beneficial to all athletes, it will be most beneficial for Female Athletes 14 years or older.  You will be a good candidate for this training if you:

  • Are recovering from or have sustained an ACL or Lower Extremity injury in the past.
  • Show poor movement characteristics during drills (knees buckle inward while jumping or cutting)
  • Have poor balance generally or during drills
  • Over utilize the quadriceps when squatting, running or landing from a jump
  • Under utilize the hamstrings when running, cutting & decelerating

We can perform a complementary screening to see if you would be a good candidate for this training.
